CALL FOR ARTICLES, REVIEWS AND INTERVIEWS
TEXT MATTERS: A JOURNAL OF LITERATURE, THEORY AND CULTURE
Literature Goes Pop!
Literary Intertexts in Popular Culture
(University of Łódź)
Are we dealing with a crisis of literature or its transformation as it migrates from books into media such as music videos, video games, literary blogs/vlogs, journalist photography, films, TV series, theme parks and many other diverse forms of popular culture? Issue 10 of Text Matters invites submissions concerning the presence of literary intertexts, conventions, genres etc. in the visual and/or digital mode. We are also interested in contributions on theoretical aspects connected with the way literature alters in transit from books into new media.
Despite the fact that distinctions between high and low culture have collapsed, literature is often seen as opposed to the forms that make it popular visually and/or digitally. And yet the dissemination of literary motifs has gathered momentum as narrative and artistic music videos, video games and other forms interpret, recycle or recreate familiar conventions and intertexts.
We invite articles (between 3000 and 5000 words), as well as reviews and interviews, on the subject. Submissions should be sent to:
- Dorota Filipczak, issue editor and editor-in-chief of Text Matters: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Text Matters official email account: email@example.com
